On the Road . . .

Last month I was gone for 10 consecutive days representing SCHMETZ and Grabbit Sewing Tools as a vendor at Janome Institute in Atlanta and Baby Lock Tech in St. Louis. No doubt about it, I love my job, but I'm wondering how long does it take to recover? There are still too many emails needing varying degrees of attention. Help!

Thank you Illinois Quilters Guild for your hospitality during my SCHMETZ presentation. This month I have four more upcoming lectures for the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo ( in Worchester, MA and Cincinnati, OH. OSQE titled my SCHMETZ class: Two Inches of Steel. I love the class name! If you are taking one of my two classes at either location, drop by and say hello. I was in Raleigh, NC last month, also for OSQE, and several ladies introduced themselves as SCHMETZ fans. We had a few laughs over sewing stories.

You may know I LOVE to take pics, so check out the pics of my great new sewing friends met this past month over on my personal site at

BTW, I was interviewed by Margaret Moorehead, Virtual Sewing Guild ( and Judy Kessinger, FitNice Systems ( We talked SCHMETZ needles. In a few months the video will be available, so stay tuned.

Summer is nearly over, so time to organize fall & winter sewing, that includes quilts too ... and don't forget about Halloween costumes!

Yes, I'm wearing sandals in the snow! LOL ... Before Janome Institute started, I walked over to The World of Coca-Cola. I was rather indifferent about visiting, but the location and timing were convenient. Plus, I thought I may never have the chance to visit again. Oh my ... The entire experience was AWESOME! The history, branding and Coke community was a delightful walk down memory lane with "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing" enveloping visitors.

SCHMETZ Quilting Needles

What needle should be used for quilting? One choice is the Quilting Needle. This needle has a thin tapered point allowing the needle to smoothly pass through fabric layers. The thin tapered point helps eliminate skipped stitches and promotes even stitches.

Quilting needles are available in both nickel-plated and chrome-plated finishes in two sizes: 75/11 for piecing and 90/14 for heavier plain or variegated 40 weight threads for quilting. If the SCHMETZ Quilting needle is new to you, try the assortment pack containing both sizes.
