Needle Points from Rhonda

Look who I found at the American Sewing Expo last weekend in Novi, MI ... David Tutera, the ever stylish, creative guru of wedding and event CELEbrations. Besides his celebrity event planning, WEtv show, and books, David is a new McCalls designer, so watch for his new patterns. David always says, "Dream Bigger," so I'm taking his advice and hope you will too.

SCHMETZ Inspired to SEW #8

This summer I met the vivacious Mary Fons at the Shipshewana Quilt Festival in northern Indiana. You know Mary from Quilty and she likes to tease that she grew up with the "quilt mafia." Just to the north in Michigan is Janet Pray, founder and president of the most progressive consumer sewing show, The American Sewing Expo. These gals love to quilt and sew and catching their enthusiasm is sewww easy. I traveled so much this summer that one trip was dubbed "My Great Northwest Adventure" while teaching SCHMETZ classes, visiting fabric shops, machine dealers and SCHMETZ distributors with some casual sightseeing along the way. Enjoy the pics as I realize that I really have become a photo bug with an emphasis on fabric, food, frolic & sewing friends!

SCHMETZ Double Eye Needle

Two eyes in one needle? That's right!

This is a Universal needle with two eyes. Use two spools of thread that unwind in opposite directions. Thread machine normally with one thread in each eye. Why a Double Eye needle? It is an option to running multiple threads through a Topstitch. Use different colors of thread or even different types of thread. The end result is a stitch with a shaded or textured effect. One tip is to reduce the sewing speed and use a simple stitch, generally one already built into your machine. Click this link for more info:
