On the Road . . .

Hurray, May is here! Does this mean our extended sewing season, also known as winter, is over? After an ambitious spring SCHMETZ travel schedule, I needed to hit the "reset" button. Attending the Creative Arts Business Summit (CABS) in Washington DC was the perfectly timed solution. I was surrounded by 30 talented designers, authors and small business owners honing business skills, brainstorming and collaborating. Being creative is delightful, but alone does not pay the bills. Making money and reaching business goals takes savvy, strategic planning and a kick from Morna McEver Golletz, CABS Founder & CEO. Attending CABS is always insightful and inspirational; I have attended four times. If you are a small creative business owner, plan now for 2019 CABS.

What Do Those Numbers Mean?
How to Read the Needle Package.

Home sewing machines require a needle with a flat shank and a scarf - that little indentation above the eye on the back side of the needle. Needles with a flat shank and scarf are identified as needle system 130/705 H. There are over 7,000 needle systems throughout the world. Thankfully, 99% of home sewing machines use 130/705H.
