On the Road . . .

My winter road trips have begun. Recently I was in Las Vegas for the VDTA/SDTA, wholesale vacuum and sewing machine dealers show, where I caught up with friends, taught a SCHMETZ class and left excited about the vitality and diversity of our industry. Whether you enjoy traditional quilting, fashion sewing, Cosplay, dollmaking, sewing companies, designers and educators are there to support your creative interests.

Next up is a return trip to the ever glorious Fabric Depot in Portland OR, then on to the largest sewing party in North America, Sewing & Stitchery Expo in Puyallup WA. Get a glimpse into how this mega show started with SCHMETZ Inspired to SEW #37. (BTW this cover is one of my all-time favorites. I took the spontaneous pic last year from the show floor.) No doubt, I am always surrounded by high energy talent that thrives on learning, sharing and challenging the creative needle.

If you can't attend, join the fun by watching I will be posting live from the show floor, then on will post my favorite pics of the day. If you are in the great Northwest, I hope our paths cross for a friendly hello. If not, then I will see you on Facebook.

They come because the Sewing and Stitchery Expo (Sew Expo) has more than 450 booths of carefully curated sewing merchandise. Rhonda Gives a Shout Out for IRISPins

Last weekend I cut out a Sandra Betzina's Today's Fit vest #1453  using Cuddle Chinchilla from Shannon Fabrics. I used the new Swiss made IRIS Pins to pin the pattern to the pile fabric and was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly the pins moved through the pile fabric, first because of the super sharp point and secondly, because of the smooth pin finish. These pins are 1.5" long and with the large colored heads were easy to see in the deep pile. SCHMETZ Chrome Professional Grade Stretch 90/14 needles stitched beautifully through the super soft pile fabric. I can hardly wait to wear the vest!

"I started playing with the new SCHMETZ Chrome needles on my Twitch stream over the last few nights and have fallen in love. I see what everyone is talking about. These needles stitch so smoothly and don't gum up as quickly as regular needles. I don't think I could ever use any others now!"

SCHMETZ needles are easy to identify! Most needles have two bands of color - the top band to identify needle type and the lower band to identify size. The Universal needle has just one band of color for size. Yahoo!
