Needle Points from Rhonda

What a whirlwind! Between teaching a SCHMETZ class at QuiltCon in Austin TX and hosting the Sewing & Stitchery Expo Facebook page in Puyallup WA in the last two weeks, I feel like a road warrior. No complaints! I love my job and hearing about and especially seeing your sewing projects . . . and, of course, I want to know your favorite SCHMETZ needle. I know, it's hard wearing a quilt, but when those leftover quilt blocks are made up into a purse or tote or embellish a jacket, and you tell your story, I can imagine the beauty and your glory of finishing the full project.

Many of us have had terrific sewing weather, all snuggled into our warm sewing rooms with snow mounting outside the windows. I invite you to visit our Face Book page to post some of your winter creations.

SCHMETZ Inspired to SEW #13

Get a glimpse into the creative world of the ever talented Amy Barickman, founder of Indygo Junction, author of The Magic Pattern Book and Vintage Notions. Amy's patterns and books continue to be well-loved staples in our sewing rooms. She has the beautiful Crossroads Denim and soon will have a new fabric line by RJR Fabrics. What talent! This issue also includes favorite pics from my excursion to the One-Of-A-Kind Show in Chicago. Along with answering a common question, "Do SCHMETZ needles work with my sewing machine brand?", this is one AWESOME issue! Enjoy reading . . . .

How to Read the Needle Package

Home sewing machines require a flat shank needle with a scarf. These characteristics are known as needle system 130/705 H. All needles in system 130/705 H have a scarf and a flattened shank for perfect positioning in the needle bar in relation to the hook. If you don't remember what a scarf is, CLICK HERE to review last month's newsletter.

Thank You for the Thank You's!

Thank you for your cards and notes. We - well, mostly me - get a little thrill when you acknowledge the SCHMETZ materials sent to support your needle education, quilt and sewing events. I read every note!

At last ... easy to identify SCHMETZ needles! Most needles now have two bands of color - the top band to identify needle type and the lower band to identify size. The Universal needle has just one band of color for size. Yahoo!
