Needle Points from Rhonda

Stitch celebrations are popping up everywhere! From neighborhood quilt and craft fests to international quilt shows. The passion for quilting is alive and well! Recently I met the lovely author and QNNtv.com host Jodie Davis in Pittsburgh at the wholesale International Quilt Market. What an inspiration! Jodie is a passionate “quilt enabler”. Saying that Jodie is an accomplished quilter is an understatement . . . and she knows every quilt has a story. Especially though her work with the Quilt Alliance, Jodie’s message is “Share the meaning and the history of your quilt”. One way to do that is through the Quilt Alliance program Quilters’ Share Our Story. Take ownership of your quilt. Celebrate your accomplishment. Using the Quilters’ S.O.S. format is an easy way to share your quilt story with future generations.

Enjoy the abundance of sun and warm temperatures. I hope our paths cross soon at a quilt festival. And if you are attending the Shipshewana Quilt Festival, I hope to see you in one of my SCHMETZ Schoolhouse classes.

Attention SCHMETZ APP Users!

iPad users experienced a problem when opening the App in portrait orientation. The problem is now fixed.

The problem was a recent change/bug in Apple's iOS causing the “Menu” button to not appear until the iPad had been rotated into landscape mode. The heart of the bug was in the split screen view controller. This "controller" allows users to use the entire screen in portrait while splitting the screen in landscape.

If you are an iPad user (or know someone who experienced this problem), visit the App Store and download the most recent version. Our developer worked out a fix and uploaded version 1.2.1 to the App Store. Search for SCHMETZ.

Inspired to SEW

Do you have a sewing buddy? Jan Potter & Bonne Swett have been sewing buddies for over 20 years challenging each other with opposing sewing/quilting theories. Read this feature story of how the organized accountant and the wild artist elevated each other’s skill levels.

How to Read the

SCHMETZ Needle Pack

Do all those numbers on the needle pack seem like a mystery? Fret no more, read the May blog series for answers.

I hope to see you in one of my five Schoolhouse classes: Sew COLORFUL SCHMETZ!

SCHMETZ App - Updated Version (1.2.1)

Wondering which needle to use? Wonder no more because there's an App for That! That's right ... and it's free! CLICK HERE to download the most recent version (1.2.1).

At last... easy to identify SCHMETZ needles! Most needles now have two bands of color — the top band to identify needle type and the lower band to identify size. The Universal needle has just one band of color for size. Yahoo!
