What Machine Should I Buy?

Last week I was in viva Las Vegas for a sewing machine dealer wholesale show. The variety of sewing machines available is awesome. One of the questions I am frequently asked is, "What kind of sewing machine should I buy?" Well that's easy. Buy from your local dealer! All the sewing machine companies offer great machines with various features fitting all budgets. What you should seek besides the machine is the relationship with your local dealer. A dealer will offer you classes, answer questions, service your machine and greet you with a smile. No matter what kind of home sewing machine or machines you have, SCHMETZ needles are compatible with all brands and most machine models.

Later in the month I have several upcoming events. In fact, it seems as if February is my 2016 "hump" month. I will be teaching SCHMETZ needle classes at Sew Generously, St. Charles IL and will do one presentation on Sunday at QuiltConWest, Pasadena CA. Then on to the Sewing & Stitchery Expo, Puyallup WA where I serve as the official Facebook Hostess. Yes, comfy shoes are mandatory! Come on by and say hello! I love to know what you are sewing and which SCHMETZ needle is your favorite. If our paths do not cross, be sure to follow along at www.Facebook.com/SCHMETZneedles.

  Winter Sewing Zone!

When double digit negative temperatures strike, I think about cold weather sewing projects.  Sewing with cozy, soft and warm fabrics such as Polortec, Shannon Cuddle Fabrics, Minkie just to name a few.  These fabrics use a SCHMETZ Stretch needle size 75/11 or 90/14 depending on the fabric weight.

Universal 70/10 - 90/14 are also options.  Whether making a quilt or a comfy jacket, have fun sewing!

At last ... easy to identify SCHMETZ needles! Most needles now have two bands of color - the top band to identify needle type and the lower band to identify size. The Universal needle has just one band of color for size. Yahoo!
