Needle Points from Rhonda

What a treat I had spending the last few days of July traveling the great Northwest to promote sewing from Portland, OR where I taught SCHMETZ needle classes at the awesome Fabric Depot to Vancouver BC with lots of quilt shop stops in between. But I am ready for this new month. August is my primetime sewing month. Even when I lived in New York City as a young professional, I spent many of those unbearably hot days sewing to the hum of a window air conditioner. To this day I still love to sew and quilt in August when not in the garden.

If you need sewing inspiration take a look at the free SCHMETZ Inspired to SEW e-zine. Itís only 13 pages, but sometimes it's just one little comment or a pic that can spark your next creative project. So . . . Iím changing the needle and ready to start my August sewing spree.

Mary Fons

Have you signed up for Maryís color webinars? Each one-hour web seminar features two distinct lessons. The first lesson focuses on a specific color of fabric: its place in quilts over time, how to read each color's different values, how to best pair it up with other colors, different hues within that color family, plus other color-related tips and knowledge.

The second portion of the web seminar shares valuable content related to an engaging aspect of quilt-making, such as pre-washing (or not), cutting accurately, submitting designs to a magazine, etc.

BLUE is the color lesson scheduled for August 21st. Register today!
